Reflections on Blogging

This post represents my views on this assignment.  Initially, I found this assignment a little intimidating.  You are basically putting your personal views out there for the world to see.  However, after reading some of the other blogs on the web, I realized that no one is perfect and we all hold our own unique views about various topics.  Some people expressed there views with eloquence and grace while others simple state the facts.

This blog exercise has shown me yet another way that technology can eliminate some of the transactional distance of the autonomous world of distance education.   Transactional distance as defined by Moore is “the physical distance that leads to the communications gap, a psychological space of potential misunderstandings between the instructors and the learners.” (Moore and Kearsley, 2005, p.223)  It is clear that blogs could easily be used as a method of posting communications between instructors and student on a variety of subjects.  As technology continues to be integrated into the classroom it foreseeable that blogs could be used as open discussion board between all students within a course or the world for that matter.  Thus, allowing knowledge to truly be open and shared with all.
